About Dr Aaron N. Wiegand

Dr Aaron Wiegand is currently the Senior Lecturer of Mathematical Modelling and Computer Simulation at the University of the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia.

In addition to teaching mathematics to undergraduate students of education, engineering, science and mathematics, he takes a keen interest in developing novel and effective methods by which mathematics can be taught, and with which an appreciation and delight for mathematical thinking can be fostered and developed.

He conceived and created the STEMPRAC system as a tool with which students can practice solving sets of mathematical type questions and problems, that are unique to each student. Importantly, stduents can try sets of questions over and over again until they are sure that they have mastered the knowledge and skills that those questions aim to instil.

His research is focused primarily in the sciences and engineering disciplines including thermodynamics, microbiology, genetics, foresty, biomechanics and sports science. He enjoys working in this wide variety of disciplines through doing programming and modelling for colleagues.
